Learning To Say I Do
Meet Sara and Justin
Welcome to our blog. This is Sara and Justin. We’re so excited to marry each other on June 25, 2011.
Throughout this blog, we’ll discuss our engaged life, making our wedding preparations, and how we discerned God calling us to marriage. I (Sara) plan to do most of the blogging, but Justin plans to make an appearance now and again to keep me grounded.
Here’s some background information so we’ll no longer be total strangers.
I am 24 years old and currently work in communications for a large parish in Kansas City. I coordinate the internal and external communications for a parish and school ministry. As my pastor so eloquently explains to new parishioners, I help spread the 2,000 year old Gospel message in new ways our world can relate to – including social media.
I grew up in a small town in the middle of a corn field in Iowa, and double majored in Business Management and Marketing at a small regional university. Interesting Fact: I had never ridden on a roller coaster until I was 19 and working as public relations intern at a local Kansas City amusement park. During this time period, I loved the hustle and bustle of the city, and definitely enjoyed living in an area that had more than one movie playing in the movie theatre every three weeks.
After graduating, it was no surprise to family and friends when I moved to Kansas City and began working in my current job at a parish. Six months later, Justin and I met.
Justin grew up in North Dakota. However, he’s lived in more places than I can count, so I always joke he is from a little bit of everywhere. He is an Eagle Scout, and went to a local regional university where he was recruited to wrestle. His junior year, Justin was an All-American wrestler. After finishing his undergraduate class work, Justin received his Master’s in Physical Education and became a missionary for FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students, for four years. Following FOCUS, Justin earned his Ph.D. from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) and now teaches exercise science at a small regional university (arch rival of my alma mater, by the way) near Kansas City. Justin has done mission work in Costa Rica, Peru, and El Salvador, and continues to travel abroad.
We’re so excited to share with you our lives as we prepare for marriage! We’d love to hear from you, so feel free to comment and offer suggestions as this blog continues.
