Marriage, College Education Keys to Preventing Child Poverty

The Institute for Family Studies recently released a testimony by W. Bradford Wilcox, senior fellow of IFS, which explored the rising trend of child poverty and declining trend of couples marrying. Marriage “protects” children from poverty better than cohabitation and creates a more stable family life.


Millennials Who Marry Before Having Children More Likely to Thrive Financially

“In general, Millennials who marry first are more likely to be on track to realizing the American Dream than those who put childbearing first.” A recent report released by the Institute for Family Studies and the American Enterprise Institute found that Millennials who earn at least a high school diploma, work a full time job, and get married before having children are financially better off than peers who do not follow this sequence.


On Poverty and the Family

Pope Francis reminds us to reach out to families living in poverty. He encourages voluntary simplicity and says that poverty “is not just a matter of bread”.
